MAXONS RESTORATIONS, A WINNER OF THE 2003 INC. 500 LIST Growth (1998-2002): 342%
September 11 was a defining moment for the nation. It was also one for disaster recovery company Maxons Restorations, which mobilized 1,500 workers to clean Trinity Church and St. Paul's Chapel, 3,000 apartments, and 50 office buildings in downtown Manhattan in the weeks following the attacks on the World Trade Center. Quality Assurance: CEO Damon Gersh learned the importance of quality work from his late father, Max, with whom he started the company when he was 21. He once turned down a million-dollar contract to restore a hotel after a fire because he was required to use hotel labor and thus couldn't control quality.
